The Secret Vault: GIC’s Immersive Exhibition at New Bahru

GIC, the fund that invests Singapore’s reserves, has never put on an exhibition before. The Secret Vault marks its 45th year by opening the doors on what it actually does, across six rooms you walk through in order at New Bahru on Kim Yam Road.

The Archive goes back to independence and the decisions that led to a sovereign wealth fund. The Global Inflation Hypermart is a timed shopping run where prices climb while you fill your basket, which makes the case for investing better than any chart. The Weather Room turns decades of global change into wind and storms, and The Steward’s Gardens is a maze with hidden risks before you tend a digital garden of your own. The Globe has you spotting brands you did not know GIC holds, and The Reserves of Tomorrow closes with a space to leave your own hopes for the future.

Entry is free, but you register for a time slot online. Walk-ins are accepted when there is space, though slots are capped to keep the rooms from crowding, so booking ahead is the safer bet this final week. Groups of up to 15 can book together, and the QR code in your confirmation email works from your phone. All ages are welcome; it is recommended for 10 and up.

It is open daily until Sunday 1 November: Monday 12pm to 6pm, Tuesday to Thursday 11am to 7pm, and Friday to Sunday 11am to 8pm, with last admission an hour before closing. Fort Canning MRT (DT20) is the nearest station, and a free shuttle runs every 30 minutes from 12pm to 8pm between Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Orchard on Somerset Road and New Bahru. Parking on site is limited.
