Countdown 2027: Where to See In the New Year in Singapore
Fireworks all the way around the bay, or a heartland countdown ten minutes from home? Both are good. Here’s where to see in the New Year, area by area, and how to get home after.

The 2026 sites aren’t announced yet — they usually come out in late November. These are the places that hosted one last year, area by area.

What time are the Marina Bay New Year’s Eve fireworks?+
In 2025 the show started at 11pm on New Year’s Eve: an hour of music with about 30 minutes of fireworks in four parts, building to midnight. URA usually announces the year’s programme in late November.
Do the MRT and buses run late on New Year’s Eve?+
Yes, every year. Trains and selected bus services run extended hours on 31 December, and the exact times come out in December. In 2025 most lines ran last trains from the city at around 2am, and 56 bus services were extended.
Where can I count down with kids?+
The Kallang set its 2025 fireworks for around 9pm, so families could watch and still get home early. The heartland countdowns are another easy option: free, close to home, and far smaller crowds than Marina Bay.
Is New Year’s Day 2027 a public holiday?+
Yes. 1 January 2027 is a Friday, so it’s a long weekend. New Year’s Eve, 31 December 2026, is a Thursday and a normal working day.
