A hands-on bharatanatyam workshop where postures and mudras turn into a downpour, a garden or a jungle.
A sudden downpour, a garden, a jungle — bharatanatyam can summon all three using nothing but the body. This interactive workshop is a hands-on introduction to the classical Indian dance form, working through basic postures, movements and hand gestures. Instead of watching from a seat, you spend the session learning how those techniques carry ideas, emotions and the world around us, with physical storytelling as the thread running through it.
It's on Sunday 29 Nov 2026, 11am to 12.30pm, with a stated running time of 1 hour, and it's conducted in English. Tickets are S$20, and admission is for ages 6 and above, so a curious kid can learn the same gestures as the grown-up who brought them. The session is held at Esplanade Rehearsal Studio, 1 Esplanade Drive.
