Silvia Moreno-Garcia on haunted houses, witchcraft and convincing fakes β and what telling the truth costs β at Victoria Theatre.
Her novels run on a haunted house, witchcraft passed down through generations, and a con artist's invented falsehoods. The people in them put forward altered versions of themselves β to survive, to gain power, or for love. In this keynote, Silvia Moreno-Garcia returns to the question of what telling the truth costs and what it takes to fake it convincingly, and applies it to the present day.
It runs an hour, 1.30pm to 2.30pm on Sat 21 Nov, at Victoria Theatre, as part of the Singapore Writers Festival 2026 programme. One for readers who like a little of the uncanny in their fiction, and for anyone working on their own writing who wants to hear an author pick apart the lies her characters tell.
