Sociologist and MacArthur fellow Ruha Benjamin takes on the biases coded into digital systems at the Singapore Writers Festival 2026 keynote.
Ruha Benjamin brings Ctrl + Alt + Rethink to the Singapore Writers Festival 2026 as its keynote talk. A sociologist and MacArthur fellow, she works across race, technology and social imagination, and this lecture turns to the biases built into digital systems — the assumptions that get written in long before anyone types a query.
It runs 1pm to 2pm on Sunday 22 Nov 2026 at Victoria Theatre, a tight hour with one of the sharper thinkers on how technology shapes who gets served and who gets missed. One for anyone who works in tech, studies it, or just uses it daily and wants to understand what sits under the surface.
