Rooted in Tradition: A Youthful Insight

Indian classical dance, performed by the young students of Temple of Fine Arts, with a storyteller on hand to connect the old forms to contemporary life. The dancers themselves speak to what they find engaging about learning these traditional arts — and the 30-minute set traces how those forms shift over time as the next generation takes them on. Every performer here is Singapore-based.

It runs at Esplanade Concourse (1 Esplanade Drive), starting 12pm on Sat 21 Nov and wrapping at 1.30pm on Sun 22 Nov — so you can catch it on either day, and short enough to slot between lunch and whatever else the weekend has planned. Admission is free, which makes it an easy yes if you have been curious about Indian classical dance and never quite known where to start.
