Masterclass with Aakash Odedra & Rani Khanam

Two kathak dancers working from different bases — Aakash Odedra, from the UK, and Rani Khanam, from India — take the Esplanade Rehearsal Studio for a session built on led exercises and movement work. Footwork, timing, gesture and narrative in kathak performance all get handled in the room rather than described from a distance. Both also set out their own approaches to the form, and look at how classical movement vocabulary can change while staying tied to its roots.

It runs 11am to 12.30pm on Sat 21 Nov 2026, in English, with a running time of 1h 30min. Tickets are S$30 and admission is 16 and above. The session introduces kathak fundamentals, so curiosity is enough to get you through the door, but dancers already training get a straight look at how two practitioners from different traditions handle the same vocabulary.
