Laurent Binet, the writer behind HHhH, brings his Florence-set whodunnit Perspectives to The Arts House for one evening at the Singapore Writers Festival.
Laurent Binet has spent his career making history feel like a puzzle box β HHhH and The Seventh Function of Language both built novels out of real events and real people. His latest, Perspectives, goes back to Florence in the 1500s for a whodunnit, and it landed on the Dublin Literary Award 2026 shortlist. On Thu 19 Nov he takes the stage at The Arts House at the Old Parliament to talk murder, mystery and the Renaissance, as part of Singapore Writers Festival 2026.
The session runs 8pm to 9.30pm on a Thursday night, which is a fine excuse to skip the usual after-work slump and sit in a room listening to a writer who has actually won things for his trouble. If you have read Binet, you will want the backstory on how Perspectives came together; if you have not, a 1500s Florence murder case is not the worst place to start.
