SIFAS students open Kalaa Utsavam with bharatanatyam and kathak — 15 minutes, free, at the Esplanade Courtyard at 6.45pm.
The banyan tree is the idea holding this one together: traditions that stay rooted while they keep growing. SIFAS students make the case in bharatanatyam and kathak, with a programme that includes a thillana and a tarana, and short segments of other classical forms — kathakali and mohiniyattam — folded in alongside. It is the opening performance of Kalaa Utsavam.
Everything happens on Friday 20 November 2026 at the Esplanade Courtyard, 1 Esplanade Drive, from 6.45pm to 7pm — 15 minutes, in English, and free. A quarter of an hour is short enough to slot into whatever else the evening has planned.
