A one-day festival across the old school grounds of Goodman Arts Centre: stories from the site’s past, hands-on sessions, art installations, live music and a makers’ market. Sat 24 Oct, 4pm to 10pm.
HOME | GROUND takes over Goodman Arts Centre on Saturday 24 October, 4pm to 10pm, spreading across the blocks, the amphitheatre, the field and even the visitor carpark. The grounds have had a few lives before this one, as Tun Seri Lanang Secondary School, then LASALLE College of the Arts and SOTA, and the festival leans into that history.
It runs in four strands. “kiss the raindrops” gathers stories from the site’s past; “i thought you knew” is a set of hands-on creative sessions; “ROOTED | Site Encounters” places installations made for the grounds themselves; and “HOME | Frequencies” brings the live music. Ground Goods, a creative marketplace, and The Commons Gathering round it out, with performances listed from Ian Woo x Jeremy Sharma, I am David Sparkle, Kiat and NADA.
Most of it is listed as suitable for all ages, though some workshops are for 12 and above, and a few workshops have their own booking. Session times vary within the day, so check the programme page before you head down. Mountbatten MRT is about a 10-minute walk, and there’s limited free parking at the visitor carpark on Goodman Road.
