Traditional dikir barat, except this time your hands are on the percussion. Gema & Gaya is a drop-in dikir barat experience at Esplanade Concourse, where participants can try out rhythms on the rebana and canang themselves. It's presented by Norazam Hakub (Andika Kencana) and the Singapore Dikir Barat Federation, in collaboration with Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, and the session is conducted in Malay.
It runs Sat 31 Oct 2026, 4pm to 6pm — a two-hour stretch you can walk into at any point rather than choping a seat for the whole thing. Find it at 1 Esplanade Drive, and admission is free. All ages are welcome, so the whole group chat can come along, kids included.
