Join a citizen-science wildlife survey at Gardens by the Bay, no expertise needed, results announced on the spot.
Fancy yourself a citizen scientist for a morning? BioBlitz 2026 returns to Gardens by the Bay (Bay South) on Sun 20 Sep, from 7.30am to 12.30pm, and it's free to join. This second edition puts you alongside experts to spot and identify species across the Gardens — no prior expertise needed, just a pair of eyes and a bit of curiosity.
The day is split into two survey blocks. Bird surveys run from 8am to 9.30am, with registration and briefing from 7.30am to 8am. Butterfly and dragonfly surveys take over from 10am to 11.30am. Each survey runs in three groups of up to 15 participants, so you'll be moving in small packs rather than a crowd.
It's suitable for all ages, though the nature of the surveys makes it best suited to younger adults and above. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. While you're there, the rest of the Gardens is in full swing: Lilytopia at Flower Dome (9am–9pm), Disney Garden of Wonder at Floral Fantasy (10am–9pm), and Cloud Forest featuring Jurassic World: The Experience (9am–9pm). Mid-Autumn Festival 2026 lights up Golden Garden, Supertree Grove, Bayfront Plaza and Flower Dome from 6pm to 10pm, and if you stick around, Borealis plays at Supertree Grove at 8pm, with Garden Rhapsody at 7.45pm and 8.45pm.
