An Alexander Technique session for singers — anatomy, body awareness and exercises with vocalising, led by Vivien Chong at Esplanade.

Singers spend years working on the sound and very little on the body making it. This 75-minute workshop at the Esplanade White Room is run by Vivien Chong, a music educator and certified Alexander Technique teacher, and looks at how singers use their bodies while singing and in everyday activity. Basic anatomy is on the agenda, including the skeleton and the main muscles of the back, and some of the exercises give participants the chance to add vocalising. The aim throughout is awareness — noticing the habitual patterns that affect your singing.

It runs Sat 5 Dec 2026, 4pm to 5.15pm, in English, at 1 Esplanade Drive. Tickets are S$15 and admission is for ages 11 and above, so it suits younger singers starting to think seriously about technique as much as adults who have been at it a while.
