Singapore is running a Sprint for the first time, and it changes which day you should buy
Friday is no longer just practice. Saturday now has two competitive sessions. The old advice about which day to pick is out of date.

For eighteen years the Singapore Grand Prix ran the same shape: practice Friday, qualifying Saturday, race Sunday. Buy Friday and you saw cars going round with nothing at stake. In 2026 that is no longer true, because Singapore is hosting its first F1 Sprint weekend.
What a Sprint weekend actually is
The Sprint is a short race — 100km, roughly a third of a Grand Prix, no mandatory pit stop — with championship points for the top eight. Adding it means dropping two of the three practice sessions, so the weekend goes from one competitive session to three.
- Friday: Practice 1 at 4.30pm, then Sprint Qualifying at 8.30pm
- Saturday: the Sprint at 5pm, then Grand Prix Qualifying at 9pm
- Sunday: the Grand Prix, lights out at 8pm
Friday — $198, and no longer a write-off
Friday used to be the day you bought if you wanted atmosphere and did not care about the racing. Now it ends with Sprint Qualifying, which sets Saturday’s grid. There is only one practice session all weekend, so Friday evening is also the first time anyone finds out whether their car works around here.
Zone 4 Walkabout $198, Premier Walkabout $298, Stamford grandstand $228. Music that night is JJ Lin, with DJ Snake and Major Lazer on the DJ stage.
Saturday — the fullest day of the three
This is the one that changed most. Saturday now carries an actual race at 5pm and then qualifying at 9pm, which on a street circuit is the most nervous hour of the weekend — one wall, one lap, no second chance. Two competitive sessions in an evening, and The Killers, Goo Goo Dolls and Zara Larsson afterwards.
Zone 4 $298, Premier $398, Stamford $328. If you are buying one day and want value, this is now the day.
Sunday — the race, and the price
The dearest everywhere it is still on sale: Zone 4 $368, Premier $498, Stamford $428. You are paying for the Grand Prix itself, and for Lana Del Rey and Janet Jackson afterwards.
Worth knowing before you commit: Singapore has never been a great overtaking track. Every race here from 2008 to 2023 saw at least one safety car — a streak that only broke in 2024 — and much of the drama comes from walls and attrition rather than passes.
The bundle is the actual answer
There is a Friday-and-Saturday sprint bundle at $368 for Zone 4 — the same price as Sunday alone. Two nights, three competitive sessions including a real race, and two nights of music. On the numbers it is the best ticket on the board.
And a seat is not a given
Walkabout means standing and walking. The circuit is 4.9km with 19 corners, and humidity sits near 80% after dark. If anyone in the group needs to sit, the accessible platforms at Empress start at $38 and are listed apart from the general grandstands.
