Thaipusam hits Little India Friday 22 January at the stroke of midnight, and the whole precinct transforms into a swirling, drum-beating spectacle of devotion and colour. Devotees carry kavadis and offer prayers along the traditional route — you don't need to be part of the faith to feel the electric energy that grips the streets till dawn.

It's a free-to-watch street festival that's equal parts cultural immersion and sensory overload — think pungent incense, rhythmic chanting, and a sea of people. Best experienced on foot, so leave the car at home and take the MRT to Little India.
