Sensory Moments Surprise

Sunflowers do more than stand there looking cheerful. This Sensory Moments session at the Flower Dome's South American Garden and Flower Field digs into how the plants track the sun, the patterns on their heads that only bees can see, the tiny hairs on their stems, and how a single sunflower head packs in hundreds of flowers before turning into seeds and oil. It is a proper look at a flower most of us only ever photograph.

It runs 2pm to 5pm on Saturday 17 October 2026, and admission is free. The programme is pitched for all ages — children, adults and seniors included — so it works as a slow afternoon out with the family or a solo wander through the gardens. Set aside the three hours; there is enough here to keep everyone looking closer than usual.
