Race to Sustainability! turns 10 at Gardens by the Bay: a free NAFA art show until 29 Nov, plus a weekend of soap, laksa and insect workshops on 24–25 Oct.
Race to Sustainability!, Gardens by the Bay’s climate programme, is ten this year. It runs from 22 Oct to 29 Nov 2026, admission is free, and only some of the workshops charge a fee.
The part you can walk into on any day is an exhibition by Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts students: five original zines, posters and a short film about how people live alongside the rest of nature, from global ecological crises down to small everyday habits. It is in the foyer beside The Canopy ticketing counter, open 9am to 9pm daily.
On Sat 24 and Sun 25 Oct, the Ficus Room in the Active Garden turns into a Sustainability Fair of small, hands-on sessions. You can make your own botanical soap bar, rewire a plug and take apart a table fan at a repair session (free, no sign-up), or follow National Geographic Explorer Max Han as he traces Siglap laksa back to the ikan kembung in the bowl, with a bowl of laksa at the end. There are also scent and plant-printing sessions by NAFA biophilic design students, an insect hunt in the community garden and botanical ink-making. Most need pre-registration and places go first come, first served; fees run from a S$10 contribution to S$35.
