Conductor Laureate Hans Graf leads the Singapore Symphony through Hindemith, Prokofiev and Paganini at the Esplanade, 5–6 March.
Hans Graf, the Singapore Symphony's Conductor Laureate, takes the Esplanade Concert Hall stage on 5 and 6 March with a programme that hops across several centuries of music. It opens with Hindemith's Mathis der Maler, the symphony he completed in 1934, before the evening gets to the two composers named on the poster — Prokofiev and Paganini. Benjamin Schmid shares the billing with Graf.
Set aside 1 hour 45 minutes, with the music getting going at 7.30pm. Tickets are S$15–100, which puts the cheap seats well within reach of a curious first-timer, and admission is from age 7, so a young one who can sit still for a symphony can come along. The event is presented in English.
