A free two-hour workshop where you make music by writing code — Kapilan Naidu introduces Strudel, a browser-based live coding tool.
Making music usually means an instrument, a DAW or at least a keyboard. Break(ing)Beats with Strudel asks for a browser instead: Strudel is a browser-based tool for live coding, and Kapilan Naidu runs this workshop on it. You start with sampling and simple patterns, then move on to repetition, omission, rearrangement, speed, layering and variation — each treated as a way to shape music with code.
It runs Tuesday 13 Oct 2026, 7pm to 9pm at Arts x Tech Lab, and it is free. The session sits inside Workshops & Explorations, a monthly series under field:work, so it comes as part of a regular run of hands-on sessions. The starting point is deliberately basic — sampling, simple patterns — which makes it a reasonable first go at live coding, and a decent two hours for anyone curious about what code sounds like when it plays back.
