One Saturday, Three Very Different Plans: 15 Aug Is Stacked

Some Saturdays give you nothing but grocery runs and regret. Then there’s 15 August, which somehow lined up three completely different evenings in one day — and depending on which one you pick, your group chat is going to learn something about you.

Fighter one: the sophisticate. From 3pm to 5pm, Flamingo Coffee & Wine on Amoy Street hosts a tasting of Sami-Odi wines — a cult Barossa producer that wine people speak about in hushed tones. At S$25 for the session, it’s a very affordable way to pretend you understand tannins for two hours, in one of the CBD’s cosiest wine corners.

Fighter two: the culture vulture with a sense of humour. At 7.30pm, 10 Square screens Hantu Kak Limah Balik Rumah — the beloved Malaysian horror-comedy that treats ghosts as neighbourhood gossip. Kampung spirits, chaotic energy, and the rare movie night that isn’t another superhero rerun.

Fighter three: the emotionally evolved one. Circle of Feelings: Love Edition runs at Proud Spaces SG from 7pm, tickets S$10. It’s exactly what it sounds like — a guided circle for talking about love, honestly, with strangers who came to do the same. Braver than any horror movie, if we’re honest.

The greedy play? Wine at three, dash to the 7.30 screening, and save your feelings for next week. Whatever you choose, 15 Aug is not the Saturday to stay home.
