Not another restaurant: 5 ways to actually move this week
From a WTA 500 fortnight to an hour of slow tai chi — with the effort level spelled out honestly.

Some nights you want a table, a menu and someone else doing the work. Some nights you want to sweat, stretch or swing at something. This is the second list. Effort levels stated plainly, so you can pick the invitation that actually matches your energy.
Singapore Tennis Open 2026 lands at OCBC Arena for seven days of competition from Mon 21 Sep to Sun 27 Sep, closing with the finals on Sun 27 Sep. It's WTA 500 tennis, which means the rallies are quick and the crowd actually reacts — free qualifying matches and an event village mean you can test the vibe before committing to a seat. Effort level: minimal. Mostly it's you, a plastic cup and someone else's backhand.
Badminton Hangout runs every Monday evening from 6.30pm at Braddell Heights CC in Serangoon, S$10 a head, pitched at youths and young adults. Rock up, get paired, play. No partner required, no standard required, just a racket and the willingness to look slightly silly for the first ten minutes. Effort level: moderate, and it's over in time for supper.
U13 Challenge & Carnival 2026 takes over SAFRA Yishun from 11 September to 4 October. If you've got a kid in the under-13 bracket, this is the sort of thing that eats a Saturday morning happily — and if you're the one driving, Yishun has decent coffee while you wait. Effort level: high for the kids, mostly sitting for you.

Padel at the Gardens pops up two courts at UBS Centre Court on the West Lawn of Gardens by the Bay, running 19 Sep to 11 Oct, 8am starts. Fair warning: booking is required and slots are fully taken. Worth knowing anyway, because if you're not already on a list, you're spectating — and the West Lawn is a genuinely pleasant place to be at 8am. Effort level: whatever you make of it from the sidelines.

Tai Chi For Healthy Longevity runs Mon 21 Sep, 2pm, at Central Library's Programme Room 1 in the National Library Building. One hour, focused on balance, strength and confidence, pitched at adults and seniors. This is the gentle end of the spectrum — no jumping, no burpees, no one shouting at you. Effort level: low, and the aircon is a bonus.

If your version of moving is more mental, StarHub 5G Wellness Festival 2026 is at New Bahru across Sat 12 and Sun 13 September, 10am to 6pm daily, free to enter. Workshops, play, yoga and live music, so you can drift between doing and watching depending on how the week treated you. Effort level: your call entirely.
Two more worth knowing about: More Than a Meal: Finding Comfort Through Food in Palliative Care is an online talk on Mon 21 Sep, 7pm, on how illness changes a loved one's ability to eat and what food still means in palliative care — quiet, useful, and you can join from the sofa. Thriving with Stress is a lunchtime talk on Tue 22 Sep, 12pm, with a practical toolkit, aimed at adults 36 and up. Effort level: zero, which is sometimes exactly right.

Pick one, jio the group chat, and stop pretending another dinner reservation counts as plans.
