One free thing, one deep dive, one Sunday sweat

A free sound piece you step inside, an ocean you walk beneath, and a Sunday class that sorts your week before it starts.

Saturday plans have a way of dissolving by 11am, so here are three that survive contact with real life — one costs nothing, one is aircon and indoor, one gets the week sorted before Monday even shows up.

Temple by Tuan Andrew Nguyen lands at National Gallery Singapore on Sat 25 Oct, 10am, and it is free. The draw here is not a painting you stand in front of and nod at — it is an interactive sound commission, which means the room responds to you and you end up inside the artwork rather than orbiting it. Go early if you want a quiet stretch with it; go with the friend who talks through exhibitions and let the sound drown them out.

Into the Ocean: Journey Beneath is the one for a wet Saturday or a slow Sunday — ArtScience Museum, daily 10am–7pm with last entry at 6pm, and from 1 Sep the museum opens 9am–6pm with last entry at 5pm. It is a world-premiere ocean exhibition that stitches OceanX footage together with art and science, which is a polite way of saying there is a lot to look at and the kids will not ask to leave in ten minutes. Tickets are S$16.50–22, and it is entirely indoors, so the weather cannot ruin the plan.

Sunday Funfit Class runs Sun 4 Jan at 3pm in Chinatown, and it costs S$11.58. It is exactly what it sounds like: a Sunday afternoon session that gets the blood moving so the week does not start from a standstill. Book it before you talk yourself into a nap instead — the nap always wins if you let it.

Three shapes of weekend, then: something free, something cool and dark, something that makes you sweat. Pick one, jio whoever is free, and stop refreshing the group chat.
