5 sign-ups closing Monday — and one you've already missed

Three karaoke nights, two badminton courts and one NS-style obstacle course. Most of these close the day they happen, so this is a same-day decision.

Here is the thing about community events — they rarely sell out, they just quietly close. You find out about the karaoke night on Tuesday, you check the sign-up on Wednesday, it's gone. So consider this the one nudge you get this week. Five of them close on the very day they run, which means if you're reading this and thinking 'maybe', the answer is now. One already shut on 31 Aug, and it's the only one here with a price tag, so we'll start there.

SAFRA Fitness Festival 2026 — FitX Challenge is the one that's already gone, technically: sign-ups closed Mon 31 Aug 2026. It runs Sat 26 Sep 2026 at Singapore Expo Hall 2, S$60–150, two days of NS-inspired obstacles open to all fitness levels. We're flagging it anyway because SAFRA members with friends who've already signed up should know where they'll be that weekend — and because it's a useful marker of how early the bigger events close. If you missed it, you missed it.

Kebun Baru CC MAEC P. RAMLEE CLUB KARAOKE SESSION is the commitment-phobe's dream: sign-ups close Mon 21 Sep 2026, the same day it happens, 5pm to 9.30pm at Kebun Baru CC, Level 3, P. Ramlee Room. Four and a half hours of open mic means you can turn up, sing badly, and still leave before the good ones get up. Free of the pressure of a proper KTV room, which is the entire appeal.

WVRN Karaoke IG is your Monday-night Whampoa option if the Kebun Baru slot clashes — 7pm at Blk 93 Whampoa Drive #01-108, sign-ups closing Mon 21 Sep 2026. It's a neighbourhood singalong rather than a session, so expect the uncle who does 歌台 numbers properly and the auntie who does them even better. Walk-ins aren't the game here; register first.

LLRN Karaoke gives the Easties their turn on Tue 22 Sep 2026, 6pm to 10pm at 76 Lorong Limau, #01-07, with sign-ups closing the same day. Four hours, which is enough time to sing twice and spend the rest eating. If you've got a Tuesday evening free and a song you've been practising in the car, this is where it goes.

Badminton Interest Group at Our Tampines Hub Community Auditorium (Level 3) runs Tue 22 Sep 2026 from 7pm — three hours of courts with the Tampines Central CSN crew, sign-ups closing the same day. Three hours is generous for badminton, which usually means a rotation system and plenty of standing around, so go with people you actually want to talk to.

Toa Payoh East CSN Badminton Interest Group is the shorter, sharper version: Tue 22 Sep 2026, 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Toa Payoh South CC, two hours of doubles, sign-ups closing that day. Two hours is the right length for doubles — long enough to break a sweat, short enough that your shoulder forgives you.

And on the non-sporting side, Marsiling Care (19 &) closes sign-ups Mon 21 Sep 2026 for its programme at Blk 8 Marsiling Drive #01-18, run by Marsiling Zone 2 RN. Sit Down Exercises with Seniors at Naval Base Deck RN runs the same Monday from 10am to 11.30am, sign-ups also closing Mon 21 Sep 2026. If you've been meaning to bring a parent along to something gentle and social, that's your window, and it shuts Monday.

Our advice: pick one thing, register for it tonight, and stop scrolling. The window on five of these is Monday and Tuesday, and community sign-ups don't send reminders.
